Canada: Ductal® concrete is also a joint fill solution

The Hawk Lake Bridge, in Ontario (Canada) has an advanced precast bridge deck system that utilizes LafargeHolcim's innovative new ultra-high performance Ductal® Joint Fill solution.

The bridge is 13.8m wide by 27.2m long; constructed with a combination of 12 side-by-side precast box girders with eleven Ductal® joints, precast Ductal® approach slabs and precast Ductal® guardrail curbs. Precast elements by LafargeHolcim teams in Winnipeg. The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) received a PCA (Portland Cement Association) Concrete Bridge Award for this project on February 25th, during the Concrete Bridge Conference in Phoenix.

Advantages and benefits of this system includes: simplified fabrication and installation processes, superior freeze/ thaw resistance, extremely low porosity, improved flexural strength, superior toughness with resistance to harsh climates and continuous flexing from truck loadings across the joints.
