Aggregate Industries UK scores another first in promoting sustainable construction

10 April 2019

Our clients are increasingly putting sustainability first – but in a crowded marketplace, how can they identify the most sustainable suppliers? Certification can help. This is why our colleagues at Aggregate Industries become the first construction materials supplier to achieve PAS 2080 certification.

Our industry lags behind other sectors in providing coherent certification for sustainable solutions and practices, but that is changing. The UK has developed PAS 2080, which provides a common framework for all infrastructure, promoting best practice in carbon reduction, collaborative working and supply chain innovation resulting in reduced infrastructure delivery costs. To be certified, applicants must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to supplying low-carbon solutions to infrastructure projects, including specific measures for:

  • effective governance and leadership,
  • quantification of greenhouse gas emissions,
  • target-setting,
  • reporting,
  • information management,
  • continual improvement.

“Creating a more sustainable, built environment requires strong leadership in carbon management, early supplier engagement and a real commitment across the value chain to reducing embodied carbon. We are proud to say Aggregate Industries is PAS 2080-cerified and are ready to help the industry meet the carbon challenge."

Proving our continuing commitment to helping our clients to minimize carbon emissions in the infrastructure supply chain. Aggregate Industries UK offers many solutions that assist their clients in managing carbon levels, from helping designers at Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage to design lower carbon solutions, to management systems that ensure consistent and reliable data collection, and allow their carbon managers to report embodied CO 2 to other members of the value chain. By making this baseline data available to the value chain, our clients can set their carbon targets at design phase and track performance during project delivery.
