Every year, the DJSI Index evaluates 2,500 companies’ sustainable development performance in terms of social, economic and environmental criteria. In this year’s edition, which was released last month, LafargeHolcim was included in the DJSI Europe Index, as one of the best performing companies in sustainability.
LafargeHolcim, which scored a total of 84 points out of 100, was the only company in the "building materials and fixtures" sector to be selected in Europe, with notable results:
How was our overall score calculated?
Submissions were made earlier in the year by the legacy companies and the scores have been averaged and weighted to enable a combined score for LafargeHolcim to be calculated.
- Between the legacy companies, we achieved the sector-leading score in 9 out of 22 categories
Scores of 100% were achieved by at least one of the legacy companies in 5 categories:
- stakeholder engagement,
- water-related risks,
- recycling strategy (use of alternative fuels),
- international production standards,
- and biodiversity.
"These scores would not have been possible without the expertise and hard work of our operations", explains Bernard Mathieu, Head of Sustainable Development for LafargeHolcim. "This year’s results clearly demonstrates the strong base on which we can build to accelerate towards becoming the most sustainable company in our sector and beyond."
