Laguindingan Airport takes off with the help from LafargeHolcim

4 March 2013

Opening its doors in 2013, Laguindingan Airport is the main international airport for the region of North Mindanao in the Philippines. LafargeHolcim was there when ground broke in 2008, supplying 100% of cement as well as important strategic support for the project.

Laguindingan Airport is an international standard airport sitting on 4.17 km2. It replaced two regional airports that previously served the area of North Mindanao, Philippines. LafargeHolcim was called upon to provide a complete cement solution for this project, totaling 47,400 tons of cement and including:

  • 48,000 tons Type 1 Bulk
  • 6,000 tons  Type 1 Jumbo bags
  • 1,700 tons Type 1 40 kg bags

LafargeHolcim’s strategic support spanning our full range of expertise

Leveraging our expertise and know-how, LafargeHolcim delivered critical support in three primary areas:

  • Quality Assurance
In addition to providing bulk cement, we conducted product testing to identify the most compatible admixtures based on our client’s design mix, in close coordination with Hanjin and material engineers.
  • Logistics
Our logistics support covered several areas, including weekly delivery planning and bulk loading operations on Sundays or holidays during massive pouring schedules. Our dedicated hauler ensured reliable and secure delivery for proper inventory management.
  • Relationships
We established strong working relationships in part through regular business review meetings to ensure project advancement and that all decisions were made to customer satisfaction.

Meeting or exceeding international safety and operational standards, Laguindingan Airport helps respond to growing air transportation demand while boosting the economic activities of the Northern Mindanao region.
