Located in Johor, Malaysia, the ATB oil terminal provides for blending and storage of crude oil, petroleum and petrochemical products. Begun in 2012, ATB (a subsidiary of Vitol Terminal BV) invested $340 million in the expansion, which features the construction of an additional 24 storage tanks.
LafargeHolcim was tasked with setting up an operational plant site with complete facilities within just two months to respond to ATT’s requirement for a continuous materials supply and guaranteed quality, in addition to a series of custom-mixed concretes. The safety of the working environment was also given a top priority.
LafargeHolcim delivers the right mixes at just the right time
LafargeHolcim overcame these challenges with consistent quality and unparalleled service and technical support. By optimizing manpower and transportation, we delivered:
An operational site plant with complete facilities in under 2 months
- Approximately 100,000 m3 of concrete in the first year
- Up to 2,000 m3/day of concrete on the tank foundations
- Several types of concrete: Holcim Essential (G35N and above, both normal and pump), Holcim Premium (for sulphate-resistant and low-heat concrete), Durocrete (customized mix for offshore structures with four-hour retention time).
The work brought the total storage capacity of this facility to 5.6 million barrels or 893,000m³. Lying at the heart of Asia’s vibrant energy trading hub, the ATB oil terminal can now receive tankers of all sizes, including partially-laden Very Large Crude Carriers.
LafargeHolcim’s timely delivery and continued commitment to quality and service mark a successful completion of this project. It also represents a milestone for the ATB terminal, offering new storage and logistics opportunities for petroleum products in the Singapore region at competitive rates.
