Poland: a new stadium for the 2012 European Football Championship

7 December 2009

Euro 2012, the European Football Championship, kicked off in Poland in June 2012. LafargeHolcim supplied the cement required for the construction of the new national stadium in Warsaw. A total of 90,000 tons of cement were delivered - 75,000 of which will have been supplied in 2009 only.

LafargeHolcim partnered with an ambitious architectural project. The stadium features over 58,000 seats and was the biggest construction site for Euro 2012. According to architecture firm JSK Architekten, which managed the project, the stadium's external wall represents Poland's national flag, which is white and red, floating in the air.
