Lafarge has announced that it has entered into an agreement for the sale of certain aggregates assets formerly a part of Blue Circle in the Brantford region of Ontario, Canada to James Dick Holdings Limited. The assets involved include sand and gravel operations, all of which are located in South Central Ontario.
This sale concludes the series of divestments required by the Canadian Competition Bureau in connection with Lafarge's acquisition of Blue Circle Industries Plc completed earlier this year. It included sales to St Lawrence Cement on October 12, 2001 (four aggregates locations, three asphalt plants and a construction business) and to Votorantim on August 3, 2001 (2 cement plants, 1 grinding station and various aggregates and ready mix assets).
