Spain: Valladolid chooses LafargeHolcim's value-added concretes

11 January 2011

The municipality wanted an ecologically exemplary development for the Plaza del Milenio in Valladolid (Spain). LafargeHolcim teams approached architects to understand their expectations and offer bespoke solutions, adapting the concretes' formulation to the project's requirements.

Today the square - with its fountains, trees and cycle path where only a car park stood a short time ago - has become a popular area for walking. The paving was created from green and grey Artevia® and the cycle path from pervious concrete, facilitating the drainage of rainwater which is collected to water the gardens.
